Arsenal secure a winning start to their Champions League campaign; Rice praises the team's performance.

In the first round of the Champions League, Arsenal broke the deadlock in an away match against Napoli, defeating the Italian powerhouse 1-0 with a brilliant team play in the final moments.

Arsenal midfield maestro Declan Rice praised the team's high level of performance and resilience in the harsh weather conditions during a post-match interview. The match took place amidst a persistent heatwave in southern Italy; even with kickoff at 9 pm, the temperature was still close to 30 degrees Celsius, posing a significant challenge to the physical condition of both teams.

In a deadlock-like situation, Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard delivered the decisive blow, the ball striking the inside of the post and bouncing into the net to seal the victory.

Speaking about the tough conditions of the match, Rice said in an interview: "This is probably the hottest match I've played since I joined Arsenal. It felt a lot like playing in the World Cup."

"The stadium was stuffy and hot, and the grass was dry and heavy, making it extremely difficult to play. But we still managed to play our own style under these conditions, and everyone showed great tenacity."

Regarding the only goal of the match and the overall performance, Rice said: "That goal was incredible. Everyone was involved in passing and creating space through constant movement."

"In my opinion, if we had been more decisive in our finishing, we could have scored four or five goals tonight. But the most important thing is that we secured these crucial three points."

Captain Martin Ødegaard, who scored the winning goal, continued his good form, netting his fourth goal of the season. This brings to mind his partnership last season, where he faced shoulder and knee injuries but ultimately led the team to the Premier League title.

Rice concluded the interview with high praise for his captain: "He suffered a lot of injuries last year, but as long as he stays healthy, he can shine on any team. When he's at his best, the whole team is better. All we have to do is continue to trust him and give him the ball to take control of the game."
