The Lakers have hired Amsler, a veteran executive with 20 years of experience with the Heat, as their assistant general manager.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Los Angeles Lakers have decided to hire Eric Amsler, a veteran executive of the Miami Heat, as the team's new assistant general manager.

Amsler worked for the Heat for 20 years. He entered the league as an intern in the 2004-05 season and gradually rose to become the Heat's Vice President of Player Personnel, while also serving as the General Manager of their G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He accumulated extensive management experience in professional scouting, rookie evaluation, and young player development.

This offseason, Lakers President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka is working to restructure the front office and plans to add two assistant general managers.

Previously, in May, Rohan Ramadas from the New Orleans Pelicans officially joined the team, primarily overseeing salary cap, data analytics, and tactical strategy. Pelinka had publicly stated that the other assistant general manager position would focus on the draft and player evaluation; Amsler's arrival perfectly completes this professional puzzle.

This is also the first major management signing since the Lakers' ownership change. In August of this year, the team's majority shareholder, Mark Walter, agreed to sell the team to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for a valuation of $12.5 billion.

The addition of Amsler marks a comprehensive upgrade for the Lakers' management team after the influx of new capital, and also provides stable professional support for the team's future draft strategy and roster building.
