Alex Toter: We need to do our jobs well and focus on our own performance.

Alex Tote is looking to get more playing time in the new season and is determined to seize every opportunity to showcase his abilities. The midfielder already made his debut in the Premier League opener against Manchester City and now hopes to take on a more significant role in the 2026/27 season, contributing even more to Bournemouth.  

With European competitions added to the schedule, Bournemouth faces a more congested matchday this season, which means increased squad rotation and player opportunities. Alex Tote is aware he can expect more playing time and hopes to capitalize on those opportunities through his performances. He stated, "I hope to get more playing time than I did last season."  

“This season we also have to participate in the Europa League, the League Cup and the FA Cup, so the number of matches will definitely increase. For me, this means there may be more opportunities. But when the opportunity comes, I have to be ready and seize it. If the coach lets me play, I have to do my best to prove myself.”  

Alex Tot, who previously played for Ferencváros, has already gained experience balancing domestic league and European competitions. Speaking about the challenges of European competition, he said it not only tests the team's on-field performance but also places higher demands on players' physical recovery, travel arrangements, and daily lives. He stated, "I've played in European competitions for my club before. Everyone is prepared for the matches themselves, but the challenges of European competitions go beyond just the 90 minutes of gameplay; they also include frequent long-distance travel and other off-field factors."  

"No matter what position the coach asks me to play, I will do my best. When I'm not in possession of the ball, I will continue to maintain the characteristics I had last season and help the team through high-intensity running. When I have the ball, I hope to make more use of defensive gaps and the flanks to find opportunities to pass the ball to the forwards."  

Despite Bournemouth failing to secure points in their away game against Manchester City last weekend, Alex Tother believes the team still displayed several positive aspects. He stated, "I think the team played well overall, but some minor mistakes cost us in the Premier League. We defended well in open situations; and in possession, we continued our style of play from last season, playing quite directly."  

After their away game against Manchester City, Bournemouth will turn their attention to Everton for their first home Premier League match of the new season. Alex Toter believes it will still be a challenging contest, but the team shouldn't focus too much on the result, but rather on their own performance. He said, "Premier League results are hard to predict because any game can turn out differently. We need to do our job, focus on our performance, and try to put ourselves in a better position."
