LGD announces disbandment of its Dota 2 South American roster as player contracts expire.

With the conclusion of The International 2026 (TI 2026), Chinese esports club LGD Gaming announced the official disbandment of its Dota 2 South American team roster after the expiration of their contracts.

Former team manager Babi confirmed that all players' contracts with the club expired on August 24, marking the end of their three-month partnership.

LGD temporarily left the Dota 2 scene at the end of 2024, then signed a former member of the HEROIC team to return to the competition in May of this year, and won the runner-up title at BLAST Slam VII the following month. However, the team's performance subsequently fluctuated, and they only managed to finish 9th to 12th at the Saudi Arabia eSports World Cup.

On the eve of TI, the team's core mid-laner, TaiLung, was suspended by PGL and his club due to a violation. Faced with this unexpected situation, LGD urgently invited two-time world champion Topson to fill in. In the recently concluded TI 2026, the team advanced through the group stage but was defeated by the formidable Team Yandex in the playoffs, ultimately finishing in 9th to 13th place.

Following this disbandment, Yuma, Wisper, Thiolicor, and KJ have officially become free agents, while Topson, who was called upon in a time of crisis, may choose to retire again.

LGD has not yet announced whether it will form a new roster to continue competing in Dota 2, and the future of each player remains to be seen. With the start of the new season's transfer window, the first Tier 1 tournament, PGL Wallachia Season 9, will officially begin on September 17th.
