Strasbourg officially announce the signing of Sturm Graz's Costa Rica defender wonderkid Jeyland Mitchell..

Strasbourg announced on their official website on Thursday that they have signed Sturm Graz's Costa Rica international defender wonderkid Jeyland Mitchell.

According to the Ligue 1 powerhouse's official statement, Mitchell has on a long-term five-year deal with club which runs until the summer of 2031.

About Jeyland Mitchell

Jeyland Mitchell, who is only still 21 years old, was born on September 29, 2004, in Limón, Costa Rica. He is 1.87 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but can also play as a right-back. His father and cousin are also fomer Costa Rican professional footballers.

Mitchell joined the youth academy of his hometown club Limón at the age of eight. In 2020, he briefly played for the youth academy of Costa Rican powerhouse Deportivo Saprissa, but soon returned to Limón's youth academy.

The following summer, Mitchell moved to Guanacasteca and made his first-team debut in October of the same year at the age of 17.

In the summer of 2023, Mitchell moved to Municipal Liberia.

In December of the same year, Mitchell moved to another Costa Rican powerhouse, Alajuelense.

In July 2024, Mitchell joined Feyenoord for €2.5 million. However, due to the team's poor performance and frequent head coach changes, Mitchell received almost no playing time.

On the 2025 summer transfer window deadline day, Mitchell joined Sturm Graz on-loan and his buy-out clause was triggered shortly afterward.

Last season, Mitchell made 26 appearances for the Austrian Bundesliga powerhouse in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
