Iñigo Pérez: We must remain calm and humble during the game, while seizing opportunities to put pressure on our opponents.

Villarreal manager Iñigo Pérez spoke to the media ahead of the match against Malaga, analyzing the team's current form and pre-match preparations. The match will be held at the La Rozaleda Stadium.

Iñigo Perez stated, "I still maintain sufficient motivation, just as I did when I first started coaching, and I am full of enthusiasm and anticipation for my work. The reason I talked about this at the previous press conference is because I have always believed that when a person gets used to constantly making excuses for their mistakes while repeatedly avoiding self-reflection, it is easy for this situation to gradually evolve into a cycle."

"Therefore, since I have these feelings, I think I must seriously reflect on myself. We do need to allow a period of 'mourning' for the disappointment in the competition, but I always maintain confidence in my passion and dedication."

“We had a very exciting preseason and gradually built something that everyone was happy with. Over time, I got to know the players better and they had a clearer understanding of my needs and ideas.”

"But with the league officially underway, we have entered a phase that has its objective reasons, but is neither expected nor desirable. Now, we must bravely face the problems before us. There is indeed an obstacle in front of us, so we must pick up the hammer and break it completely. We have a very clear understanding of our current situation, and from an overall perspective, the team is still full of energy because we know that we will have another opportunity to strive for victory and celebrate together."

"I think our main problem right now is psychological, not just physical condition or tactical arrangements. Of course, those two aspects will also have some impact. Faced with this unexpected situation, we showed positive performances in some stages of the game, which gave people a lot of hope. But then the team gradually lost its original balance and failed to maintain its previous cohesion and organization."

Speaking about their upcoming match against Malaga, Inigo Pérez said, "We know very well that they are a team that likes to take the initiative and can constantly put pressure on their opponents. Therefore, we must remain calm and humble during the game, while also believing that our opportunities will come, and we need to seize those moments to create threats for our opponents."

"This is a match with a very clear background. Two teams currently in the relegation zone and desperately wanting to win will face off. Therefore, this match will largely be a psychological battle. In addition to relying on their own football skills and tactical execution to take the initiative, whoever can better control their emotions and calmly deal with different stages of the game will have a better chance of moving towards victory."
