Pacers' all-time top five rebounders: Mel Daniels leads with 7,643 rebounds.

The Indiana Pacers have a history of producing many outstanding interior players and rebounders, setting numerous rebounding records in both the ABA and NBA . Below are the top five Pacers players in franchise history for total rebounds:

1. Mel Daniels ( 7643 rebounds)

Daniels was a seven-time ABA All-Star and two-time ABA Most Valuable Player during his time with the Pacers. In his first four seasons with the team, he was the ABA rebounding champion three times, averaging 18.0 rebounds per game in the 1970-71 season . In his first four seasons, he averaged over 15.6 rebounds per game each year , while playing an average of 37 minutes per game. Despite only playing 479 games for the Pacers, his 16.0 rebounds per game still rank him first on the Pacers' all-time rebounding list.

2. Dale Davis ( 6006 rebounds)

Davis played for four NBA teams during his career , and his only All-Star selection came during the 1999-00 season with the Pacers. In the 1993-94 season, he averaged 10.9 rebounds per game, a career high and his only season averaging double-digit rebounds. During his 671 games with the Pacers, he averaged 9.0 rebounds per game.

3. Rick Schmitz ( 5277 rebounds)

Schmitz played all 12 seasons of his career with the Pacers, and was selected to the All-Star team for the only time in the 1997-98 season. He played 867 games for the Pacers , averaging 27 minutes and 6.1 rebounds per game.

4. Jeff Foster ( 5248 rebounds)

Foster also dedicated his entire career to the Pacers. He averaged 8.1 or more rebounds per game four times, including two seasons with 9.1 or more. While Foster averaged only 4.9 points per game in his career, his rebounding was outstanding.

5. George McGinnis ( 5219 rebounds)

McGinnis played his early years in the ABA , earning three All-Star selections with the Pacers. In the 1974-75 season, he averaged 29.8 points, 14.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.6 steals per game, winning the ABA MVP award . After playing for the 76ers and Nuggets, he returned to the Pacers to end his professional career. In 487 games with the Pacers , he averaged 10.7 rebounds per game. Based on his outstanding performances in both the ABA and NBA , McGinnis was eventually inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
