Liverpool announced on their official website on Tuesday that Blackburn Rovers' young Hungary U21s attacking midfielder Patrik Farkas has rejoined the club.

According to Liverpool's official statement, Farkas has signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2032.

Furthermore, The Athletic's resident renowned English Liverpool team correspondent James Pearce, the club had actually already initiated efforts to re-sign Farkas shortly after the summer transfer window opened in July, with the deal essentially agreed upon in principle early on.

However, the official announcement was delayed until now due to issues regarding youth development compensation fees and administrative formalities involving the English Football Association.

This move marks his return to the Reds after a fouryears.

He will also reunite with his younger brother, Erik, who plays for Liverpool's U18s squad. Farkas becomes the fifth Hungarian player in the current Reds setup, joining Dominik Szoboszlai, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pecsi, and his brother Erik.

After completing his transfer procedures, Farkas, who was interviewed by the Premier League giant's official website again, said: "Signing here is a dream come true; I’m really happy and can’t wait to start this new journey."

"I’m really enjoying being back at Liverpool. There are some new faces, but it’s great to see everyone and catch up with many old friends."

"I’m a technical player, a versatile 'box-to-box' midfielder. and I always strive to create chances on the pitch."

"The coaches have a simple requirement for me: put in great performances, play with confidence, and show them what I’m capable of. If I do that, anything is possible. I’ll work hard and aim to take that next step."

"My brother Erik and I have played together since we were four years old. We motivate each other; that’s our goal, to push one another and improve together."

About Patrik Farkas

Farkas, who is only still 19 years old, was born in Hungary on November 10, 2005. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but can also play as a center midfielder, defensive midfielder, left or right winger. His brother, Erik, is also a 'box-to-box' midfielder.

As children, the Farkas brothers played together in the youth academy of the Hungarian club Kecskeméti TE before joining Liverpool’s renowned Kirkby youth academy in 2021.

However, a year later, issues regarding foreign player registration for youth teams forced Farkas to leave Liverpool and join Blackburn Rovers' youth academy.

Early last year, he was promoted to Blackburn's U21s squad but was subsequently loaned out to several local amateur clubs in the Liverpool area.

During his four-year spell with The Rovers, Farkas made 71 appearances across all competitions for the EFL Championship club's youth teams, scored seven goals and provided four assists.
