Liverpool officially announce the signing of Genk's U19s international goalkeeper wonderkid Lucca Brughmans..

Liverpool announced on their official website on Wednesday that they have signed Genk's Belgium U19s international goalkeeper wonderkid Lucca Brughmans.

According to Liverpool's official statement, Brughmans has signed on a long-term six-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2032. He will initially play for Genk on-loan until the summer of 2027 before officially becoming a Liverpool player.

Furthermore, according to Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool paid a transfer fee of up to £30 million to sign Brughmans.

After completing his transfer procedures, Brughmans, who was interviewed by the Premier League giants' official website for the first time, said: "I am very happy and grateful. This has been a significant experience and a fantastic opportunity."

"I feel incredibly proud and excited, and I'm looking forward to my future at this historic club, dreaming of one day wearing this shirt and playing at Anfield."

About Luca Brughmans

Lucca Brughmans, who is only still 18 years old, was born on June 27, 2008, in Antwerp, Belgium. He is 1.97 meters tall, plays as a goalkeeper and holds dual Belgian and Republic of Congo citizenship. His younger brother, Beau, is a Belgium U17s international center-back who is currently playing for Club Brugge's youth academy.

Brughmans played twice for the youth academy of non-league club Kalmthout during his childhood, and also had experience playing at the youth academies of Beigham, Royal Antwerp, and PSV Eindhoven. He joined Genk's youth academy in 2022, began playing for their reserves in 2024, and completed his Genk first-team debut Genk in April 2026.

Since his debut, Brughmans has made 15 appearances for the Jupiler Pro League powerhouse in all competitions, conceding 15 goals and keeping 6 clean sheets.
