Alex Scott: Looking at the overall performance, I think the victory should have been ours.

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott believes his team deserved a victory more in their 1-1 home draw against Everton. In the first half, Scott capitalized on an attacking opportunity to break the deadlock. After a brilliant play by Francisco Evanilsson, Bournemouth launched a swift counter-attack, with Scott finishing to give his team the lead at the Vitality Stadium.  

In the second half stoppage time, Everton finally seized their chance to equalize, with James Tarkowski stepping up to score the crucial goal. With the score now 1-1, Marco Rose's Bournemouth ultimately failed to hold onto their lead, managing only a draw in their first home game of the new season.  

In his post-match comments, Alex Scott believed Bournemouth deserved all three points. He stated, "Looking at the overall performance, I think the victory should have been ours. Unfortunately, a mistake in the final stages of the game prevented us from holding onto our lead. In a high-level league like the Premier League, the difference between one and three points often hinges on a single moment or a single detail."   

“We created the conditions to win the game, but we just didn’t convert our chances into goals. The most important thing now is to move on as soon as possible and focus our energy on the next game against Newcastle United. Judging from the game and our performance, I think we were the better team today and deserved a better result. But Everton held on until the end and seized their chance to equalize near the close of the game.”  

Reflecting on his goal, 23-year-old Alex Scott specifically mentioned the crucial role Francisco Evanilsson played in the attack. Evanilsson has now provided an assist in two consecutive matches. Scott said, "He's really excellent in that respect, both quickly pushing forward and controlling the ball well under pressure from defenders. As a number 8 midfielder, I want to contribute more goals in attack, so making active runs into the box is crucial. I'm happy to score early this season and hope to continue scoring."  

This match against Everton also holds special significance for Bournemouth, as it marks the first time Marco Rose has led the team to host their opponents at the Vitality Stadium since officially taking charge of the club. This summer, Marco Rose took over the reins, succeeding Andoni Iraola, and began a new chapter in his tenure at Bournemouth.  

Speaking about his experience playing under Marco Rose, Alex Scott said that the new manager's tactical philosophy emphasizes high pressing and proactive pressure. While this style of play is very exciting to watch, the team still needs time to gel. He said, "It's a very aggressive, high-pressure style of football, which will be very exciting and entertaining for the fans. However, we also need a few weeks to really adapt to it. Actually, it's very similar to when Andoni Iraola first came to the team; we also needed time to find our rhythm and start scoring points. We are still in the process of learning and adjusting."  

“He is an excellent head coach, and his coaching staff is also of a very high standard. It has been a very pleasant experience working with them over the past few weeks. We are satisfied with our current collaboration and look forward to the rest of the season.”
