Kuminga signs with the Timberwolves to join Edwards in their championship run.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, free agent forward Jonathan Kuminga has officially reached an agreement with the Minnesota Timberwolves to sign a two-year, $13 million contract.

In the new season, Kuminga is expected to directly enter the Timberwolves' starting frontcourt rotation, forming a highly competitive core lineup with LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert.

This signing not only strengthens the Timberwolves' athleticism and impact on the front line, but also injects new vitality into the team's offense and defense.

It is reported that Cuminga has attracted strong interest from many teams since entering the free agent market, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and Portland Trail Blazers.

However, after being actively persuaded and recruited by Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, Cuminga finally decided to accept the shorter two-year contract and head to Minnesota to begin a new chapter in his professional career.

The 23-year-old Cuminga was the 7th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft and played his first five seasons with the Golden State Warriors. Before the trade deadline last season, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, where he averaged 12.2 points in 16 regular season games.
