Timberwolves have officially waived 30-year-old wing John Conchar.

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced in a statement that they have officially waived 30-year-old wing shooter John Conchar.

All indications suggest that the layoffs are closely related to the signing of Jonathan Cuminga. To free up salary cap space to acquire Cuminga, the Timberwolves sent Josh Green's expiring $14.68 million contract to the Utah Jazz earlier Saturday. As part of the trade, they received Conor Couchard ($6.17 million) and Cody Williams ($6.02 million) from the Jazz.

Other reports indicate that the Timberwolves will handle Conchar's $6.17 million contract under the extension clause. Over the next three years, Conchar is expected to occupy only approximately $2.06 million of the Timberwolves' salary cap each quarter.

As an undrafted free agent in 2019, Conchard began his professional career with the Memphis Grizzlies. He played six and a half seasons with the Grizzlies, accumulating 337 regular season games, averaging 4.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 16.9 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 47.2% and a three-point percentage of 35.9%.

In February of this year, Conchar was sent to the Jazz in a seven-player trade. To date, he has played 26 regular season games for the Jazz, averaging 5.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 block, and 2.0 steals in 26.2 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 44.5%.

If Concharov passes the 48-hour waiver period following his buyout on Monday, he will officially become a free agent. According to ClutchPoints reporter Brett Siegel, Concharov's next destination is most likely to be the Miami Heat.
