Kompany urged Bayern to improve their speed in getting into the game.

Defending champions Bayern Munich defeated newly promoted Erwästberg 2-1 in a key match of the third round of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season, thanks to goals from Lennart Karl and Kane. In an interview, Kompany stated that his team must get into the game faster, otherwise they will find themselves in a more difficult situation.

Lennart Karl received a pass from Kane in the 26th minute and slotted the ball home to give Bayern Munich a 1-0 lead. In the 61st minute of the second half, Noah Darwig played a diagonal pass to Klattenmacher, who followed up with a long-range shot from the edge of the penalty area to equalize for Ellvorsberger at 1-1.

In the 72nd minute, Aleksandar Pavlovic passed the ball back from the penalty area, and Kane received the ball, dodged the defense, and scored while falling to the ground, helping Bayern Munich regain the lead at 2-1.

Bayern Munich ultimately defeated Ellsworth Berg 2-1 away from home. With these three points, Bayern Munich currently sits in fourth place in the standings with seven points, two points behind leaders Freiburg.

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said, "I felt that we were a little slow to get into the game. In the last two games, we created some good chances in the early stages, but we failed to convert them into goals. Then, the team entered a phase where we needed time to adjust."

"For example, in this game, we didn't take the initiative from the start like we did against Schalke 04 and Bodø/Glimt. We really weren't in the game at the beginning. Our opponents played very well and were full of courage, and even when we had possession, we weren't as accurate as usual."

Kompany pointed out, "If the counter-pressing intensity isn't high enough, then the game will turn out like this. Opponents won't give us opportunities for nothing, and if we're not 100% committed to the game, then any game will become very difficult. But in the end, we redeemed ourselves."

In addition, Kompany said, "We were a mentally slow start to the game, which put us in a more difficult situation."
