Pierlinger confirms return to Paderborn on a four-year contract.

Paderborn announced on Wednesday that they have brought back 26-year-old German striker Marvin Pillinger from Heidenheim. The two sides signed a four-year contract, valid until June 30, 2030.

Piringer previously played for Reutlingen, Freiburg's reserve team, Würzburg Kickers, and Schalke 04 before joining Paderborn on loan for the 2022/23 season. During his time at Paderborn, he made 26 appearances in all competitions, contributing 14 goals and 10 assists.

In July 2023, Pillinger joined Heidenheim from Schalke for €1.8 million. To date, he has made 104 appearances for Heidenheim, scoring 18 goals and providing 11 assists.

With the transfer officially completed, Pillinger returns to Paderborn after three years. Paderborn's Sporting General Manager, Sebastian Lange, commented: "We are delighted that Marvin is returning to Paderborn. He has gained extensive Bundesliga experience at Heidenheim in recent years and demonstrated his importance to the team. He has also proven his ability on the international stage. His finishing ability, versatility, physical attributes, and experience will be invaluable assets to us. Another huge advantage is that he previously played for us for a year and is very familiar with the team environment and the club."

According to Sky Sports Germany, Pilinger's transfer fee is between 3 million and 3.5 million euros.

After completing the transfer, Pillinger bid farewell to Heidenheim through official channels: "I have had a wonderful three years at Heidenheim. I would like to express my gratitude to the club, management, coaching staff, team and fans for the many achievements we made together during this time."

Heidenheim CEO Holger Sanwald stated, “Marvin has played a crucial role in our two successful relegation battles over the past three years. We certainly hoped he would stay and become a core player in our 2. Bundesliga campaign. However, joining Paderborn gives him the opportunity to continue playing in the Bundesliga. Considering he only has one year left on his contract, this transfer will also bring the club considerable transfer revenue. That's why we agreed to his request.
