Newcastle United have officially signed Manchester City midfielder Nico Gonzalez.

Newcastle United have officially announced the signing of 24-year-old Spanish midfielder Nico González from Manchester City on a long-term agreement.

In the new season, this midfielder, who came through the La Masia youth academy, will wear the number 6 jersey and become Newcastle United's seventh first-team signing this summer.

After completing the signing, González could not hide his excitement, saying in an interview: "I am very happy to join this amazing club."

“I’ve heard nothing but high praise for this club and this city, and I’m incredibly excited to be a part of this project. I’ve fallen in love with this black and white jersey and can’t wait to wear it and play.”

Speaking about the fervent atmosphere at St. James' Park, González added: "I've played two away games here for Manchester City, and they were very tough. The atmosphere here is fantastic, the fans are so passionate, and I can't wait to experience it all as a home player."

Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has been full of praise for the new signing, noting that Gonzalez possesses excellent ball control and driving ability, outstanding defensive discipline, and a strong physique to adapt to the Premier League.

Sporting director Ross Wilson also stated that González, who has experience playing for Barcelona, Porto, and Manchester City, has been the team's primary target for weeks, and his arrival will greatly enhance the team's competitiveness in midfield.
