Ipswich Town completes contract extension with goalkeeper Christian Walton..

Ipswich Town announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have extended the contract of its English goalkeeper Christian Walton.

According to Ipswich Town's official statement, Walton has signed on a new three-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.

After completing his contract extension, Walton, who was interviewed by the Ipswich Town official website again, said: “I’m so happy. This is my home now, and I’m delighted to continue here. I’ve lived in Suffolk for five years and loved every minute here, loved every minute I played for the club. It’s been a fantastic journey so far.”

“I’ve always wanted to stay at Ipswich, so I’m delighted to entrust my future to Portman Road. I’m really happy that the club has placed its trust in me.”

“When I signed with the club, I was probably at a stage in my career and life where I was looking for a home. I had a few loan spells before, and the frequent moves had left me feeling a bit tired.”

“What makes me feel at home isn’t just the five years I’ve lived here, but also the connections I’ve built with the club, the players, the staff, and the fans. Every time I wear the Ipswich shirt, it means a lot to me; it’s a very special feeling.”

About Christian Walton

The 30-year-old Walton was born on November 9, 1995, in Wadebridge, England. He is 1.96 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper. 

Walton joined Plymouth's youth academy at the age of 10, then moved to Brighton's youth academy in 2013, before completing his Brighton first-team debut in a League Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur the following October.

From the summer of 2015 to the first half of 2020, Walton successively played on-loan for Bury, Plymouth, Luton Town, Southend United, Wigan Athletic, and Blackburn Rovers. During these spell, he won the League One title with Wigan.

In August 2021, Walton joined Ipswich Town on-loan, with his ownership being permanently purchased the following year.

Since becoming a member of the Tractor Boys, Walton has so far made 138 appearances for the newly promoted Premier League side in all competitions, conceding 140 goals and keeping 57 clean sheets.
