American reporter: Kevin Love is expected to return to the Timberwolves; both sides are open to a reunion.

According to TA reporter Jon Krawczynski this week, Kevin Love is expected to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both he and the Timberwolves are open to a reunion, and it's possible that a contract could be finalized before the start of the 2026/27 season.

Since becoming a free agent this summer, Love has been unemployed and has been linked with teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although Love, who will turn 38 soon, is far from his prime, he still has the ability to be a part of the Timberwolves' frontcourt rotation, while also playing the role of a veteran and locker room leader in a relatively young team.

“As far as I know, Kevin Love is open to returning to Minnesota. I think the Timberwolves are also interested in bringing him back,” Krawczynski stated clearly on his podcast. “If the Timberwolves decide to fill the roster gap and choose Kevin Love, that would be a very exciting story.”

As the fifth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft, Kevin Love began his professional career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played six seasons with the Timberwolves, accumulating 364 regular season games, averaging 19.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 32.8 minutes per game, and winning numerous individual accolades, including three All-Star selections, two All-NBA Second Team selections, and one rebounding title.

In August 2014, Love left the Timberwolves in a three-team trade. He then played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Utah Jazz, appearing in 625 regular season games to date, averaging 13.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 25.9 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 42.7% and a three-point percentage of 37.1%.

Love also played 88 playoff games, averaging 12.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 26.7 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 40.0% and a three-point percentage of 39.7%. His most representative playoff achievement was undoubtedly winning the NBA championship in 2016 with Cavaliers stars such as LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
