Former Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto might be re-joining Juventus on a free transfer..

Sky Sports' resident tenowned Italian transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio exclusively reported on Saturday that former Bournemouth Brazilian goalkeeper Neto might be re-joining Juventus on a free transfer.

According to Di Marzio, Juventus is facing a sudden goalkeeping crisis following an injury to their first-choice keeper, Kamil Grabara, who is on loan from Wolfsburg, which will sideline him for some time.

With the transfer window closed and no suitable loan options available, I Bianconeri has turned to the free-agent market to bring in Neto as an emergency reinforcement.

Di Marzio reports that Juventus has already reached an agreement with Neto on personal terms. The player has alreadt agreed to sign on a short-term contract which will only run until the end of the current season.

However, as the club has already filled its quota for non-EU foreign players, Juventus is currently negotiating with Serie A officials in hopes of securing special permission to register Neto.

About Neto

Neto, 37, was born on July 19, 1989, in Araxá, Brazil. He is 1.9 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Neto played for the Cruzeiro youth academy when he was young before moving to the Athletico Paranaense youth academy in 2003.

He completed his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in August 2009 and established himself as the starting goalkeeper the following year.

In January 2011, Neto joined Fiorentina for a fee of €3.5 million. During his time there, he helped the team reach the Coppa Italia final once and the UEFA Europa League semi-finals once.

After his contract expired in the summer of 2015, Neto joined Juventus on a free transfer. 

Although he primarily served as a backup goalkeeper during his time at the club, Neto successfully won two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies, and one Supercoppa Italiana.

In the summer of 2017, Neto joined Valencia for a fee of €9 million. He immediately established himself as the team's undisputed starting goalkeeper and won one Copa del Rey title with the club.

Two years later, Neto joined Barcelona in a swap deal involving Netherlands international goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

During his three-year stint at Barcelona, Neto won the Copa del Rey once.

In August 2022, Neto joined Bournemouth on a free transfer.

During his time with the Cherries, Neto earned praise for his impressive performances in the Premier League.

In August 2024, Neto moved to Arsenal on-loan, though he made only one appearance for the Gunners during that spell.

After leaving upon the expiration of his contract in the summer of 2025, Neto returned to Brazil after many years away and joined Botafogo on a free transfer.

Last season, struggling with recurring injuries, Neto made 22 appearances across all competitions for the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club, conceded 25 goals and kept 5 clean sheets.
