The Timberwolves signed Drew Tim to compete for a roster spot in the upcoming season.

September 27th - According to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto , former Gonzaga player Drew Tim has signed a training camp contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves and will compete for the team's official roster during training camp for the new season.

Standing at 6 feet 9 inches (approximately 2.06 meters), Tim can play multiple positions in the frontcourt. The Timberwolves' signing of him will intensify competition in the frontcourt during the preseason. The team also previously signed KJ Martin and Nochard O'Mir for training camp.

After leaving college basketball in 2023 , Tim primarily played in the G League. Over the past two seasons, he played for the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers, appearing in 36 NBA games , averaging 5.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, in 13.6 minutes per game , with a field goal percentage of 49.4% , a three-point percentage of 33.3% , and a free throw percentage of 60.0% .

In the 2025-26 season, Tim signed a two-way contract with the Lakers, but ultimately failed to make the team's final roster for the 2026 playoffs.

The Timberwolves currently have 13 guaranteed standard contracts, leaving room for competition on their 15- man roster. If Tim ultimately makes the Timberwolves' opening roster for the new season, he will become the 13th Gonzaga University alumnus in the 2026-27 NBA season ; if waived, he is expected to join the Timberwolves' G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves.
