Valencia CF officially announced that Javier Aguirre has been appointed as the team's new head coach.

Valencia CF has officially announced that it has reached a coaching agreement with Javier Aguirre, who will officially become the team's new first-team head coach. According to the agreement, the Mexican coach's contract will run until the end of this season, with the club having an option to extend it for another season.  

Javier Aguirre has officially become the head coach of Valencia after leading the Mexican national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Mexico successfully advanced to the Round of 16. This is Aguirre's third World Cup as national team coach, having previously led the team in the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup and the 2010 South Africa World Cup.  

With a wealth of coaching experience, the new Valencia manager has previously managed several La Liga teams, including Osasuna, Atlético Madrid, Real Zaragoza, Espanyol, Leganés, and Mallorca. He has also coached clubs and national teams in Japan, the UAE, Egypt, and Mexico.  

During his time coaching in Spain, Javier Aguirre led Osasuna to Champions League qualification, a significant achievement in his coaching career. On the international stage, he led the Mexican national team to two CONCACAF Gold Cup titles, in 2009 and 2025, and to the CONCACAF Nations League title in the 2024-25 season. He also led Pachuca to the Mexican league title in 1999 and Monterrey to the CONCACAF Champions League title in 2021.  

Javier Aguirre will make his official debut on September 28 and meet with the media in the Mestalla Stadium press room as Valencia's new first-team head coach.
