Davy Mitchell firmly believes the Miami Heat's defense will become stronger.

With the NBA preseason games about to begin, teams will embark on a new training journey. In an interview, Davy Mitchell stated that after various adjustments, he believes the Miami Heat's defense will be even stronger in the new season.

In the 2025/26 NBA regular season, Davyn Mitchell played 70 games for the Miami Heat, averaging 7.9 points per game with a field goal percentage of 49.0% and a three-point field goal percentage of 39.5%.

Miami Heat point guard Davyn Mitchell said, "We have three, or four, very good defensive players if you include Andrew Wiggins. In some games, he'll guard the opponent's best player. They're just as eager as we are to win the Defensive Player of the Year award. There's a competitive spirit between us; the players all want to win the Defensive Player of the Year award."

“Sometimes I will guard the more agile and faster players, while Andrew Wiggins will guard the taller players who can use their height advantage to find offensive positions. Our defense will be excellent, and I can’t wait.”

Speaking about the addition of his new teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo, Davyn Mitchell said, "It was already difficult for opponents to deal with Bam Adebayo before because they knew how good his defense was, but now they have to figure out how to deal with Giannis Antetokounmpo."

Regarding the management's expectations for his physical condition, Davyn Mitchell said, "They didn't even talk to me about basketball; they just told me to lose weight and stay in good physical condition. That's all we want, and that's the purest Miami Heat culture."
