Former Liverpool Serbia international winger Lazar Marković officially joins Čukarički on a free transfer..

Čukarički announced on their official website on Monday that former Liverpool Serbia international winger Lazar Marković has joined the club on a free transfer.

According to the Serbian SuperLiga powerhouse official statement, Marković has signed on a short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027. He will wear the number 8 jersey.

About Lazar Marković

The 32-year-old Lazar Marković was born on March 2, 1994, in Čačak, Serbia. He is 1.75 meters tall and primarily plays as a right winger but can also play as a left winger or as an attacking midfielder.

Marković began his youth career at his hometown club, Borac Čačak, before moving to the Partizan Belgrade youth academy at the age of 12, where he would complete his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in May 2011.

During his three-year stint with Partizan, Marković won the Serbian SuperLiga title thrice and was named Serbia's Young Player of the Year once, thanks to his outstanding performances.

In the summer of 2013, Marković joined Benfica for a fee of €6.25 million.

During his time with the As Águias, he helped the team achieve a domestic treble by winning the Primeira Liga, the Taça de Portugal, and the Taça da Liga, as well as reaching the UEFA Europa League final.

The following summer, Marković joined Liverpool for £20 million.

Despite performing well in limited appearances, and helping the Premier League giants reach the semi-finals of both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, Marković was unable to establish himself as a regular starter for the Reds.

Over the subsequent three years, he had loan spells at Fenerbahçe, Sporting CP, Hull City, and Anderlecht. During his time at Hull City, although he was unable to help the club avoid relegation, he earned praise for his impressive performances.

On the 2019 winter transfer window deadline day, Marković joined Fulham on a free transfer. However, he made only a single appearance for the Cottagers.

That summer, he returned to Partizan Belgrade as a free agent.

During this second stint with Partizan, Marković reached the Serbian Cup final in three consecutive seasons and also made the Round of 16s in the UEFA Europa Conference League once.

In July 2022, Marković joined Gaziantep on a free transfer. During this spell, he also had a loan spell at Trabzonspor.

The following summer, he joined the UAE club Baniyas as a free agent.

In August 2025, Marković joined Apollon Limassol on a free transfer.

Last season, he made 22 appearances across all competitions for the Cypriot First Division club, scored two goals and provided two assists.
