Tom Watson: There is still room for improvement in the team, but I believe we can do it step by step.

Tom Watson stated that the team's strong attacking performance in the James Mike Cup needs to be carried over to the upcoming League One matches. Leicester City secured a 6-1 victory over Fulham U21 in their opening match and temporarily topped the South B group after the first round.  

The player scored twice in the first half at the King Power Stadium, with his first goal while wearing a Leicester City shirt being particularly impressive. Since joining on loan from Brighton this summer, Tom Watson has been looking to prove himself with continued excellent performances. With the international break over and the league about to resume, the winger hopes to carry his good form from Tuesday night into the upcoming matches.  

In a post-match interview, Tom Watson said that finally scoring a goal was a huge relief. He said, "It really feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I've had a lot of chances so far, and I'm really happy to be playing for this team as an attacking player. You get a lot of opportunities to get involved in the attack and to create threats in the attacking third."  

“I’m very happy tonight because I converted two shots into goals, but I’m not satisfied with that. I want to keep scoring. My playing time last season was sporadic, so I’m still gradually regaining my match fitness and my ability to handle opportunities in the attacking third. Of course, that’s something I need to continue improving at this level. I believe that in this team, I and the other forwards can create more goals and assists.”  

After a disappointing result last weekend, Leicester City displayed a strong attacking intent from the outset against Fulham U21. Having only managed a 1-1 draw at home against a 10-man Barnsley, the team was further motivated and hoped to demonstrate greater attacking efficiency and finishing ability in this match.  

Reflecting on the match, the young player said, "The draw at the weekend was really disappointing. To be honest, that game felt almost like a loss. Coming into this game with that result, we were all determined to play more decisively and seize our opportunities better."  

“I heard from the head coach that we had 35 shots on goal throughout the game, so there is still room for improvement in the team, but I believe we can do it in the end. We must completely dominate the opponent and not lower the intensity of the game after scoring a goal, so it is really gratifying to have such a performance tonight.”
