Hawks rookie Henry Vessal suffered a torn ACL and is expected to miss the entire season.

September 22 - According to ESPN , Atlanta Hawks rookie center Henry Vesal suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament ( ACL ) in his right knee and is expected to miss the entire 2026-27 season.

 

Vesalda suffered an injury during a practice on September 15 and is expected to undergo surgery in October . The 22 -year-old, 7- foot (approximately 2.13 meters) tall Vesalda was selected 52nd overall in this year's NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers and subsequently traded to the Atlanta Hawks.

 

In his final season in college, Vesalda started 31 games for the University of North Carolina, averaging 17 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, with a 42.6% three-point shooting percentage .

 

The Hawks have not yet released a specific recovery timeline for Visa. The Hawks will officially begin their 2026-27 season on October 21 against the Orlando Magic .
