Shams: 5-year, $190 million offer rejected, Pistons' contract extension with Durant stalled.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Saturday, contract extension negotiations between the Detroit Pistons and All-Star center Jalen Duren remain deadlocked.

Since becoming a restricted free agent in June, Durant has been in communication with the Pistons regarding a contract extension. The 22-year-old hopes to receive a five-year contract worth at least $200 million, but the Pistons have offered a maximum of around $190 million over five years.

As the 13th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, Durant has played four seasons for the Pistons in his professional career. During this time, he has played a total of 276 regular season games for the Pistons, averaging 13.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 27.0 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 65.2%, and helped the team reach the top of the Eastern Conference last season.

However, Duren's playoff performance fell far short of expectations. He played a total of 20 games during the playoffs, but only averaged 10.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game.

With Osar Thompson signing the new agreement, the Pistons will now focus on advancing Durant's contract extension negotiations. Significant differences remain between the two sides regarding the contract amount, and the Pistons hope to reach an agreement before the start of the new season.
