Ballmer publicly apologizes: The Clippers will accept all penalties from the league.

Steve Ballmer issued a statement on Sunday publicly apologizing for the Los Angeles Clippers' attempt to circumvent the salary cap. He also confirmed, in his capacity as Clippers owner, that the team will comply with the league's disciplinary decision.

Earlier this month, the Clippers were fined a massive $30 million by the NBA for allegedly helping their star player, Kawhi Leonard, circumvent the salary cap. They were also stripped of five consecutive first-round draft picks from 2029 to 2033, and management, including Steve Ballmer, and related personnel faced accountability measures.

Ballmer had previously been reported to be considering challenging the NBA's punishment in court, but he ultimately decided against pursuing any legal action. In a statement released on the X platform, Ballmer said, "This has been an extremely difficult time for everyone involved with the Clippers. I deeply regret this. I want to apologize to our fans, staff, and other NBA team owners for the disruption and inconvenience this has caused. As the primary owner of the team, I take full responsibility for this."

"We are determined to turn a new page. We have indicated to the NBA that we will abide by the league's decision and have paid the fine, and we are ready to move on. Although we still disagree with some of the conclusions in the investigation report, that is not my focus. Team owners should offer support, not create obstacles."
