Barcelona announced on their official website on Friday that Egypt international center forward wonderkid Hamza Abdelkarim will sign his first professional contract with the club.

According to Barcelona's official statement, Abdelkarim will sign on a new long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030. In accordance with La Liga regulations, his release clause will be raised to €500 million.

About Hamza Abdelkarim

Abdelkarim, who is only still 18 years old, was born on January 1, 2008, in Cairo, Egypt. He is 1.80 meters tall and plays as a center-forward.

Abdelkarim joined Al Ahly's youth academy at the age of 12, before completing his Al Ahly first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in February of 2025, setting a record as the youngest player to debut for the team—and in the history of Egyptian football.

During his time at Al Ahly, Abdelkarim won the Egyptian Premier League title once.

In November 2025, Abdelkarim attracted the attention of major European clubs after delivering an outstanding performances for the Egypt U17 national team at the U17s FIFA World Cup in Qatar; he was also named by The Guardian as one of the top 60 football wonderkids of 2025.

On 2026 winter transfer window deadline day, Abdelkarim joined Barcelona on-loan. Later that summer, Barcelona triggered his buyout clause for €1.5 million.

Since joining the Blaugrana, Abdelkarim has made one appearance across all competitions for the defending La Liga champions but has yet to record a goal or an assist.
