◤UEFA Champions League - League Phase◢ Martin Baturina scores and assists as Como pulled off a shock 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig..

Como pulled off a shock 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Thursday in the opening match of their 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

In the first half, Baturina and Douvikas both scored with powerful strikes. In the second half, Diao found the net from a difficult angle, and Maksimović scored with a long-range effort. At a crucial moment, Perrone scored with from a tight angle shot. Ultimately, Como secured a stunning 4-1 win over RB Leipzig. Following this round of the matches, Como—celebrating a winning start to their European debut—sits temporarily in fifth place with 3 points, while Leipzig sits in 31st place with 0 points.

First Half

In the 12th minute, Lucas Da Cunha passes horizontally from the left flank wing. Anastasios Douvikas quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his right foot from the right side of the box. His shot was initially parried and cleared off not far by Maarten Vandevoordt. Upon pickig up the loose ball, Nico Paz took a right-footed follow-up shot from the right side of the box, but his shot was saved by Vandevoordt.

3 minutes later, Douvikas passes horizontally from the byline on the right side of the box. His pass was initially blocked and cleared off not far away by Riedle Baku. Upon picking up the loose ball, Martin Baturina volleyed with ball into the bottom left corner from the center of the box with his right foot, breaking the deadlock early to give Como a 1-0 lead!

In the 16th minute, Andrea Maksimović played a long ball from his own back half. Christopher Nkunku flicked it on with a header. Antonio Nusa quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the center of the box before volleying with his right foot, but his shot was saved by Jean Butez. 

In the 34th minute, Baku crossed into the box from the byline at the right wing; His pass was partially cleared by Luis Milla but fell to Maksimović, who volleyed with his left foot from the right side of the box, but his shot was by Butez.

4 minutes later, Baturina played a through ball from near the midfield center circle. After successfully beating the offside trap, Anastasios Douvikas quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the right side of the box before volleying the ball into the bottom left corner with his right foot, extending Como's lead to 2–0!

Como headed into halftime break termporaily leading RB Leipzig by 2–0.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 54th minute, Paz played a through ball from the right wing. After successfully beating the offside trap, Assane Diao quickly followed up, got the ball, and dribbled into the right side of the box before volleying the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with his right foot at a difficult angle, further extending Como's lead to 3–0!

2 minutes later, Baturina played an overhead diagonal ball from the right wing. After successfully beating the offside trap, Lucas da Cunha quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the center of the box and past Vandevoordt, before volleying with his left foot, but his shot somehow went wide of the bottom left corner of the post. Como missed a golden opportunity to extend their lead further!

In the 58th minute, Leipzig launched a deadly quick counter-attack. Milla mishandled the ball in his own back half. Upon intercepting the ball, Nkunku passes horizontally from the left wing. Andrija Maksimović quickly followed up, and upon receiving the pass, took a left-footed long shot from just outside of the area which flew straight into the top left corner of the net that left Butez helpless. RB Leipzig pulled a goal back to make it 3–1! 

In the 90th minute, Paz passes horizontally from the right wing. Máximo Perrone quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net from the right side of the box at a difficult anlge, sealing a 4-1 victory for Como!

When the final whistle is blown, Como secured a shock 4-1 win over RB Leipzig.
