Hornets' all-time top five blocks: Mourning tops the list, Okafor ranks second.

Although the Charlotte Hornets are a relatively young team in the NBA , they have boasted many outstanding defensive players throughout their history. Below are the Hornets' top five players in terms of blocks:

1. Alonzo Mourning ( 684 blocks)

Alonzo Mourning was selected second overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1992 NBA Draft and played three seasons for the city. In his rookie season, he averaged 21.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game, finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting. During his time with the Hornets, Mourning played 215 games, averaging 21.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game, and was selected to the All-Star team for two consecutive seasons.

2. Emeka Okafor ( 621 blocks)

Jahlil Okafor was the second overall pick in the Charlotte Hornets ' 2004 NBA draft and played for the team for eight seasons. In his rookie season, he averaged 15.1 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game, winning the 2005 Rookie of the Year award. In the 2006-07 season, he averaged 14.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game.

3. Bismarck Biyombo ( 607 blocks)

Biyombo played for Charlotte twice, in the 2011-12 to 2014-15 season and the 2018-19 to 2020-21 seasons. During his time with the Hornets, he averaged 4.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, with at least 1.1 blocks per game each season .

4. Gerald Wallace ( 531 blocks)

Although Wallace never played for the Hornets, he spent a long time with the Charlotte Bobcats . He played 454 games for the team, averaging 16.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. In the 2005-06 season, he averaged 2.1 blocks per game.

5. Elden Campbell ( 484 blocks)

Campbell joined Charlotte after nine seasons with the Lakers , where he spent nearly four years. He played 265 games for the team, averaging 13.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. In his three full seasons with the Hornets, he averaged 1.8 blocks or more per game each time.
