Hull City announced a contract extension with John Egan, with both parties agreeing to a new two-year deal.

Hull City have officially confirmed that their key defender John Egan has signed a two-year contract extension, with the club holding an option to extend for an additional year. The 33-year-old experienced defender, who joined from Burnley in February 2025, has become a crucial part of Hull City's defense, making 61 appearances for the club to date.  

John Egan, born in Cork, displayed consistent form last season, starting 39 of Hull City's 46 regular season appearances and helping the team keep nine clean sheets. He also scored in an away game against Swansea City, netting his first of three goals since joining Hull City.  

The Irish international made 11 appearances for the team in the second half of the 2024/25 season, and played a crucial role in keeping a clean sheet in two key away games against Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday, ultimately contributing to the team's successful survival in the Premier League.  

Whether on the pitch or within the team, John Egan has always played an indispensable role. With Hull City's return to the Premier League, the Irish defender has maintained a consistent and outstanding performance, demonstrating strong organizational and command abilities in a five-man defense, while leading the team to keep a clean sheet in two consecutive matches.  

John Egan said: "I have had a very enjoyable time here, and I have been happy with life here since the first day I joined the team. I am very happy to have renewed my contract with the club and I am looking forward to the journey ahead. The team has always given me full recognition and support, and I hope to respond with my actual performance in the game.
