After a long absence from the Champions League, Manchester United made a strong comeback on Thursday. Playing at Old Trafford, the club delivered a stellar performance, securing a resounding 4-0 victory over Azerbaijani champions Sabah and their first Champions League win since December 2023.

In a post-match interview, when asked whether four goals and a clean sheet constituted a perfect night, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick gave a full affirmation: "I think so, that's exactly what we wanted to achieve before the game."

"Whether it was individual performance or teamwork, everyone maintained a very high level from start to finish. The commitment of the starters and substitutes, the solid defense, the wonderful goals, and the energetic attacking play made it a truly impeccable night in every aspect."

This resounding victory also gave Manchester United a much-needed boost in their upcoming Manchester derby on Sunday.
