The Miami Heat have confirmed that Nick Richards will wear the number 8 jersey next season.

August 30th - The Miami Heat officially announced the signing of center Nick Richards . Specific contract terms have not yet been released, in accordance with team policy.

Richards played for the Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns last season, appearing in 48 games, starting 6 of them. He averaged 14.6 minutes, 5.8 points, and 5.1 rebounds per game , shooting 51.2% from the field . He made his Bulls debut on February 7th , scoring 15 points, and averaged 9.4 points and 7.6 rebounds in 20 games for the Bulls .

Last season, Richards scored in double figures 12 times and grabbed at least 10 rebounds 8 times, including a four-game streak of double-digit rebounds from March 3 to March 10 , tying his career high . He also recorded at least two blocks 9 times and scored a season-high 16 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 19 .

As a veteran with six years of NBA experience, Richards has played 305 regular season games in his career , starting 114 of them , averaging 7.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, with a field goal percentage of 62.1% . From 2021 to 2024 , he maintained a field goal percentage of over 60% for three consecutive seasons , and has accumulated 53 double-doubles in his career.

In the new season, Richards will wear the Heat's number 8 jersey. With his extensive experience, rebounding ability, and rim protection, he is expected to further enhance the Heat's interior rotation depth.
