Sunderland completes contract extension with Netherlands international goalkeeper Robin Roefs..

Sunderland announced on their official website on Saturday that they have extended the contract of its Netherlands international goalkeeper Robin Roefs.

According to Sunderland's official statement, Roefs has signed on a new long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Roefs, who was interviewed by the Sunderland official website again, said, "From the moment I arrived at Sunderland, it felt like home."

"Last season was fantastic; we finished seventh and qualified for the UEFA Europa League. But we all feel there's still a lot of room for improvement in this team, so we're focused on the upcoming games."

"I'm very excited to contribute to the bright future of this club."

About Robin Roefs

The 23-year-old Roefs was born on January 17, 2003, in Heeswijk, Netherlands. He is 1.93 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Roefs joined the youth academy of his hometown club Heeswijk at the age of six, and in 2014 joined NEC Nijmegen's youth academy, before completing his first-team debut in September 2023.

In August 2025, Roefs joined Sunderland for £11.5 million.

Since joining the Black Cats, Roefs has so far made 38 appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, conceding 49 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets.
