Palmer says he has overcome the psychological trauma of his injury.

Chelsea, nicknamed the "Blue Lions," will host Brighton, nicknamed the "Seagulls," at Stamford Bridge in the second round of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Palmer has stated that he has recovered from his injury and overcome his psychological trauma.

In the first round of the new season, Chelsea secured a dream start with a 3-2 victory over Fulham, thanks to goals from João Pedro, Morgan Rodgers, and Palmer.

In addition, Chelsea defeated Luton Town 2-0 in the earlier English League Cup, maintaining their high morale.

Reflecting on the match against Fulham, Chelsea midfielder Palmer said, "I was really happy at the time, and at the same time a little incredulous because I didn't expect us to score so quickly."

“I think Morgan Rodgers and I are two different types of players. He is more physical and explosive, while I focus more on technique. When he joined, I told him he would make a big difference. We also brought in other players, so we will have a great squad and be able to achieve good results.”

Speaking about playing under coach Xabi Alonso, Palmer said, "He just told me to play freely because he knows how I can perform when I feel good. I can move freely in any area of the pitch and look for spaces where I can create threats, that's what he told me."

Regarding his own condition, 24-year-old Palmer shared, "There were many problems last season, but the main one was injuries. When you go through an injury and return to the field, you have concerns. I think about whether I can do certain moves, and I unconsciously overthink things."

“Some things that I used to be able to do easily may not be able to be done smoothly because I used to feel pain when doing these actions, but now I have overcome those shadows.”
