Toda Ekert praised James Ward-Prowse's return, saying it showed humility.

Toda Ekert praised James Ward-Prowse's humble return to Southampton, while also commending the midfielder's performances since his return. The 31-year-old has made six appearances for Southampton since joining from West Ham United at the end of August, starting in his last four matches.  

James Ward-Prowse scored his first goal since returning to Southampton in an away game against Wrexham, marking his 56th goal for the club. Toda Ekert praised the performance and commended his integration back into Southampton.  

Toda Ekert said: "I think his return shows a very humble side. He has a deep connection with this club, and he has shown the respect that comes with coming back here. His performance on the pitch speaks for itself and has had a great impact on the team. I am very pleased with how he has integrated into the team."  

Southampton are currently facing a rather unusual schedule. Following a 1-2 away defeat to Wrexham, the team will go three weeks without a competitive match. This loss also ended Southampton's previous six-game unbeaten run in the Championship. Toda Ekert stated that the team will still train as planned this week, with a rest week in the second week, after which training will resume to prepare for the South Coast derby at St. Mary's Stadium and the home game against Portsmouth.  

Toda Ekert said: "Of course, both the team and the fans who have accompanied us on our away trips hope to return with a different result. I still believe there are some positive aspects to learn from and retain in this game. However, it is indeed disappointing that we did not get the result we wanted. We will move on from this defeat as soon as possible and make sure we start the offseason in good form."  

"We now have a full week, so we will continue training as planned and have a friendly match scheduled for Friday. The second week will then focus on recovery and adjustment, after which we will concentrate on preparing for the important game after the off-season ends."
