Villarreal's young Democratic Republic of Congo defender Willy Kambwala joins Como on-loan..

Como announced on its official website on Wednesday that Villarreal's young DR Congolese defender Willy Kambwala has joined the club on-loan.

According to the Serie A underdog's official statement, Kambwala will play for the club on-loan until the end of the season, and the loan agreement includes a non-mandatory buy-out clause.

Furthermore, according to Sky Sports' renowned resident Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, although Como has a buy-out clause for Kambwala, another former club  of his, Manchester United, still retains a buy-back and sell-on clause.

After completing his transfer procedures, Kambwala, who was interviewed by the Como official website for the first time, said: "I am very happy to be here, to join this great club, and to be in this beautiful city. I can feel the ambition here, and now I can't wait to get started. My goal is to never give up, and I will do my best to make the club and the fans proud."

About Willy Kambwala

Kambwala, who is still 22 years old, was born on August 25, 2004, in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is 1.88 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but can also play as a right-back. He holds dual Congolese and French citizenship.

Kambwala joined the youth acaemy of a non-league club Les Ulis in a suburb of Paris, at the age of 9. In 2018, he joined Sochaux's youth academy, and two years later, he joined Manchester United's youth academy, before completing his Manchester United first-team debut in a Premier League match against West Ham United by coming on as a substitute in December 2023.

Despite limited playing time at Manchester United, he did help the team win the FA Cup.

The following July, Kambwala joined Villarreal for €11.5 million.

Since becoming a member of El Submarino Amarillo, Kambwala has so far made 23 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions, but has yet to score or assist.
