Lazio announced on their official website on Sunday that Ajax's Croatia international center-back Josip Šutalo has joined the club on-loan.
According to the Serie A club's official statement, Šutalo will play for the club on-loan until the end of the new season, with a conditional mandatory buyout clause included in the loan agreement. He will also wear the number 37 jersey.
About Josip Šutalo
The 26-year-old Josip Šutalo was born on February 28, 2000, in Čapljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is 1.85 meters tall and plays as a center-back. He holds dual Bosnian and Croatian citizenship.
Šutalo played for the youth academy of Neretva Metković at a young age, joined the Dinamo Zagreb youth academy at the age of 14, began playing for their reserve team at the age of 18 and completed his Dinamo Zagreb first-team debut in a Croatian Cup match in October 2019.
In January 2021, Šutalo loaned-out to Istres 1961. During his time there, he helped the team reach the Croatian Cup final.
Upon returning from his loan spell that summer, Šutalo became a regular starter for Dinamo Zagreb's first-team.
During his three-and-a-half-year spell at Dinamo Zagreb, Šutalo helped the team win the Croatian PrvaLiga title three times and the Croatian Super Cup once.
In August 2023, Šutalo joined Ajax for €20.5 million.
During his three-year spell with de Godenzonen, Šutalo made 108 appearances for the Eredivisie giants in all competitions, scoring 4 goals.
