West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has joined Aston Villa on loan with an option to buy.

Aston Villa announced on Friday that they have reached an agreement with West Ham United for the loan signing of right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Wan-Bissaka will play for Villa until the end of the 2026/27 season, with an option to buy.

The official announcement also confirmed that Wan-Bissaka will wear the number 6 jersey during his loan spell.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 28, was born in London, England, but has chosen to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo at the national team level. He has made 16 appearances for the DRC to date, including in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

At the club level, Wan-Bissaka previously played for Crystal Palace and Manchester United. During this time, he made 236 appearances in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 17 assists, winning the FA Cup and the English League Cup with his teams.

In August 2024, Wan-Bissaka transferred to West Ham United for €17.6 million. To date, he has made 65 appearances for West Ham, contributing 2 goals and 8 assists.

After completing the transfer, Wan-Bissaka said in an official video: "I am very excited. I am happy to join Aston Villa and become a member of this great club."
