Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has officially joined Inter Milan for a transfer fee of up to €35 million.

Inter Milan announced on Friday the formal signing of 25-year-old Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones. The two sides signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.

According to multiple sources, Jones' annual salary at Inter Milan is €3.5 million after tax. His transfer fee is expected to be as high as €30 million, plus €5 million in performance-related bonuses and a 10% commission on second transfers.

As a native Liverpool resident, Jones is one of the most outstanding products of his hometown club's youth academy. Since making his professional debut on January 7, 2019, he has made 228 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals and providing 25 assists, winning one Champions League title, two Premier League titles, one Club World Cup title, one FA Cup title, two League Cup titles, and one Community Shield title with the team.

Before his move to Inter Milan, Jones' playing time had been severely limited. With a host of strong players such as Ryan Hrafenbech, Alexis McAllister, Florian Wirtz, and Dominique Szoboszlai joining the midfield competition, his overlapping positions made it increasingly difficult for him to secure consistent playing time at Liverpool.

After completing the transfer, Jones could no longer hide his joy and excitement: "I feel fantastic. I've wanted to join Inter Milan for a while now. I'm really excited."

“This transfer means a lot to me. I’m a Liverpooler, a true Liverpooler, I’ve lived there my whole life. However, I want to take my career a step further at this stage: I think Inter Milan is the perfect choice to achieve that goal.”

When discussing the key factors that led to the transfer, Jones admitted: "The feeling during the Champions League match against Inter Milan last year played a crucial role, especially the fervent passion shown by the Inter fans. Of course, we can also talk about the club's trophies, history, and the many great players who have worn the Nerazzurri jersey. However, the fans' enthusiasm was the decisive factor: I was standing in the San Siro stadium at the time, and I could clearly hear them singing and chanting for the players."

“I come from Liverpool and am used to the love and support of the fans. I have always felt a deep connection with the Reds fans. I hope to establish the same special connection with the Inter Milan fans.”

Finally, Jones addressed Inter Milan fans through official channels: "I can't wait to step onto the pitch. I hope to ignite your passion and bring you bright smiles. I will give my all for the team and help it reach even greater heights."
