August 20th - According to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto , the Pelicans have waived center Hunter Dickinson .
Dickinson just signed a two-way contract with the Pelicans last month, having previously held the same contract last season. The Pelicans offered the restricted free agent a two-way qualifying offer in June , which Dickinson accepted in July and signed the extension.
The 7 -foot -1 Dickinson only played 5 games for the Pelicans last season , totaling 42 minutes, scoring 12 points and recording 2 blocks. However, he played 44 games for the Pelicans' G League affiliate, Birmingham City , averaging 17.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
After waiving Dickinson, the Pelicans freed up their third two-way contract roster spot. The team had already signed Jaren Pierre Jr. and reached a two-way contract agreement with rookie forward Malik Diaz .
