Carrick is satisfied with Rashford's excellent form since returning to the team.

Manchester United will travel to Hull City for their first Premier League match of the 2026/27 season. Carrick stated that Rashford has been in excellent form and quick thinking since returning to the team, and he is satisfied with the striker's overall performance.

In the 2025/26 season, the 28-year-old Rashford was loaned to Barcelona, where he contributed 8 goals and 8 assists in La Liga, helping Flick's team win the La Liga title. In the Champions League, Rashford also performed admirably, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists.

Upon returning to Manchester United, Rashford came on as a substitute in the previous friendly against AC Milan.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick said, "His form has been very clear since Rashford, Coby Menu and Lisandro started training again in Dublin. He has been playing very well since returning. He enjoys the game, looks physically fit, sharp and strong, and is ready to play. So I have been very pleased with his performance since his return."

“He can certainly play in the middle, he has played there before. I wouldn’t say it’s his best position, but he’s perfectly capable of it. I think our strikers give the whole attacking line a lot of flexibility, and we’ve basically had them try slightly different roles.”

Speaking about the match against newly promoted Hull City, Carrick said, "For anyone who knows this league, there's really no such thing as an easy start. I think it's going to be a tough start, with Hull City and Ipswich Town being tough opponents, but we're not thinking about anything else right now, we're just focused on the game at hand."

“Playing against a newly promoted team away from home will be a very difficult game. I have played in games like this before, so I know very well how difficult it will be, what challenges there will be, and what kind of preparations we must make.”

Carrick added, "It was definitely not a favorable start. It's easy to call it an easy game, but that's a ridiculous notion, and we certainly don't view the game that way."
