Chelsea sign French defender Lacroix

Premier League giants Chelsea made an official announcement today that they have signed French defender Lacroix.

The 26-year-old Lacroix previously played for Crystal Palace, contributing one goal and two assists in the 2025/26 Premier League season, and two goals in the European Championship. In addition, Lacroix was included in the 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup.

In an interview, Lacroix said, "I am really happy to be a part of this great club. Everyone knows Chelsea's glorious history and title-winning tradition, and it is an incredibly proud moment for me to join this team. After speaking with manager Xabi Alonso, I found that we share the same direction and goals for this team."

“We all want to win championships, and when you see the strength of the players here and everything the club has, you believe that this goal is entirely achievable. Our ambition is to win more trophies, and I can’t wait to contribute to that.”

Lacroix continued, "I think this is the best choice for me because it's the best club in the world. I've spoken with Gusto, Chalobah, and Badiashile. Everyone naturally praises the club because of its illustrious history. I'm truly proud to be a part of it now."

“I’m very familiar with the Premier League and have won titles in England. So I’m excited to take this next step in my career and continue to write my story in England. I’ve only played one game at Stamford Bridge, but I still remember it vividly. It was a 0-0 draw, and it was an unforgettable match. Honestly, it feels really good to play there. Now, I’m just looking forward to stepping onto that pitch for the first time as a Chelsea player.”

In addition, Lacroix said, "Every team wants to have the best players, and when I see players like Reece James and Morgan Rogers, I'm really happy to be a part of their stories. I'm really proud and happy to be part of this great project, and I just want to get playing as soon as possible."
