Davis: I'll decide my future after the season ends.

Anthony Davis confirmed on Monday that he will not decide his future before the end of the 2026/27 season.

According to previous reports from Josh Robbins, Shams Charania, and other journalists, the Washington Wizards and Anthony Davis have reached an agreement to postpone his contract extension. Davis became eligible for an early extension on August 6, and the Wizards could theoretically offer the 33-year-old a four-year, $275 million maximum contract.

Davis has also not yet decided whether to exercise his $62.8 million player option for the 2026/27 season. He stated at the Wizards' media day event, "I'll talk about it after the season ends. I'll focus on finishing the 2026/27 season and maintaining a high level of performance. After the season ends, I'll sit down and have another crucial conversation with management about the future."

As the number one overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, Davis played for the New Orleans Hornets (now the Pelicans), the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Dallas Mavericks during his career. During this time, he played a total of 807 regular season games, averaging 24.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals in 34.4 minutes per game, and garnered numerous individual accolades, including 10 All-Star selections, 4 All-NBA First Team selections, 3 All-Defensive First Team selections, and 3 blocks titles.

Davis also played 60 playoff games, averaging 26.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.2 blocks, and 1.3 steals in 37.7 minutes per game. His most representative playoff achievement is undoubtedly winning the NBA championship with the Lakers in 2020.

Affected by a left-hand injury, Davis has been sidelined since being traded to the Wizards in February. Nevertheless, when healthy, he remains one of the league's top centers.
