Parma manager Cuesta has been officially sacked, with Gilardino and D'Aversa emerging as potential successors.

Parma announced in a statement on Sunday that Carlos Cuesta will no longer serve as the first-team coach, effective immediately.

The statement read: "After internal discussions, the club and the head coach have reached a consensus that the necessary conditions for continuing the professional partnership are no longer met, especially in terms of sports development plans. In view of this, both parties have reached a consensus on terminating the contract."

"Tomorrow afternoon's training session (Monday, September 28) will be handled by the club's coaching staff. As for the selection of a new head coach, that remains to be seen."

"Club President Kyle J. Klaus, CEO Federico Cerrubini, the sporting management and all members sincerely thank Carlos Cuesta and his team for their work, dedication and hard work over the past few months, and wish them all the best in their future professional and personal lives."

The 31-year-old Cuesta was formerly an assistant coach at Arsenal, where he assisted Mikel Arteta for five years. Since taking over Parma from Cristian Chivu in July 2025, he has accumulated a record of 15 wins, 13 draws, and 20 losses in all competitions.

However, Parma's performance this season has been less than satisfactory. With the departure of several key players, including Aya Suzuki, Matteo Pellegrino, and Alessandro Circetti, they currently sit in 15th place in Serie A with a record of 1 win, 1 draw, and 3 losses, accumulating 4 points.

With Cuesta officially dismissed, Parma's search for a new manager is in full swing. Their potential targets include former Pisa manager Alberto Gilardino, former Torino coach Roberto D'Aversa, and former Verona manager Paolo Zanetti.
