Becoming a world champion ensures Spain won't become complacent in the UEFA Nations League.

Spain, nicknamed the "La Roja," will travel to Wembley Stadium to face England in the first round of Group C of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. De la Fuente stated that although the team has already won the World Cup, they are determined not to be complacent or careless in the Nations League.

In the 2026 World Cup final held in July, Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 with an assist from Nico Williams to score for Ferran Torres, thus winning the championship.

Spain coach De la Fuente stated, "I can assure you that we will never be complacent. I know these players; they want to continue winning and continue making history. Only in this way can we achieve our goals."

"The motivation to improve must be consistent, and this team has that motivation. This game will require us to give our best performance. What we have achieved so far is far from enough, and this team still has a lot of room for improvement."

In head-to-head encounters, Spain defeated England 2-1 in the 2024 European Championship final.

De la Fuente pointed out, "I can only talk about our own situation, and I don't know what's really going on inside England. They are a great team, having reached the final of two consecutive European Championships. They are currently ranked 3rd in the world, and they are an extremely strong team."
