Despite the disappointment at the World Cup, Elliott Anderson looks forward to continuing his journey with England.

The first round of Group C matches in the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League will kick off, with England hosting World Cup champions Spain. Elliott Anderson stated that while there were some regrets at the World Cup, he is still very much looking forward to moving forward and growing with the "Three Lions."

In the 2026/27 World Cup semi-final, England lost 1-2 to Argentina after Gordon scored in the second half, but conceded two goals later in the game.

Then, in the third-place match, England defeated France 6-4, ending their exciting journey with a World Cup third-place medal.

In Spain, De la Fuente's team defeated their formidable rivals Argentina 1-0 to win the World Cup.

In head-to-head encounters, England lost 1-2 to Spain in the 2024 European Championship final.

Elliott Anderson, the England midfielder who plays for Manchester City, said: "Spain are the world champions now, so we are all really looking forward to this game. After all that has happened in the summer, there is no better match to test ourselves again."

"Spain is a team that focuses on possession and likes to keep the ball at their feet, which is something we hope to achieve. So it will be a very exciting match. We will put pressure on them. It will be a great clash between two strong teams."

Elliott Anderson pointed out, "This is indeed a good opportunity to continue our previous form. It's not necessarily a completely new beginning; we just need to build on what we've done before. Of course, it's very meaningful to be able to play against a world champion and test our performance. This match will definitely let us see whether we can perform at our level against such an opponent."

Reflecting on his journey to the 2026 World Cup, Elliott Anderson shared, "It's probably the most amazing experience of my career so far. It feels surreal to be able to represent my country at the World Cup. The whole country is so proud of us, and it's such a shame that we fell just short. But it's all in the past, and we can only move forward and keep growing. We're all one team, winning together and losing together."

"The match against Mexico was unforgettable, and the other one, of course, was the semi-final. Although the final result wasn't ideal, it was truly incredible to be able to face Argentina in the World Cup semi-final."

Elliott Anderson added, "But the moment the final whistle blew at the Aztec Stadium, that game was really special for me. We went through so much there, including playing with 10 men after a red card, and the atmosphere created by the fans. That game was truly special, one of the most memorable moments of my life."
