Bundesliga star Dahoud joins Dubai United on a free transfer, bidding farewell to European football.

UAE Premier League newcomers Dubai announced on Thursday that Bundesliga star Mahmoud Dahoud has joined the club on a free transfer. Multiple sources indicate that the two sides have signed a two-year contract.

With this transfer completed, Dahoud will fade from the European football scene. He will play under Italian legend Andrea Pirlo and wear the number 21 jersey.

Dahoud, 30, was born in Al-Amuda, Syria, and fled to Germany with his family when he was young. He came through the youth academy of Borussia Mönchengladbach and made his first-team debut on August 28, 2014, in the second leg of the Europa League play-off.

To date, Dahoud has played for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, Brighton, VfB Stuttgart, and Eintracht Frankfurt. As a versatile midfielder, he has made 306 appearances in all competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 40 assists, winning the German Cup and the German Super Cup with his teams.

However, Dahoud has been unemployed since leaving Frankfurt in June. His move to Dubai United means he is returning to professional football after a three-month hiatus.
