Clippers have officially waived 24-year-old center Johnny Bloom.

The Los Angeles Clippers announced in a statement on Thursday that they have officially waived 24-year-old rising star center Johnny Bloom. The news was first reported by NBA insiders Jack Fisher and Law Murray, and was subsequently confirmed by the Clippers.

All indications suggest that Bloom's $2.15 million salary for the 2026/27 season is fully guaranteed. Unless a team claims Bloom during the waiver period, the Clippers will still be responsible for that amount.

With Bloom's departure, the Clippers' standard contract roster has been reduced to 15. They still need to decide by October 15 whether to guarantee Cam Christie's $2.3 million contract for this season or waive him.

As the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NBA draft, Bloom began his professional career with the Philadelphia 76ers. Due to a diagnosed tear in his right lateral meniscus, he only played 11 regular season games for the 76ers last season, averaging 0.9 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.4 assists in 5.0 minutes per game, shooting 4-for-24 from the field.

During his time with the 76ers, Bloom also played for their affiliate team, the Delaware Blue Jackets. According to official statistics, he played a total of 26 games in the G League, averaging 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 32.8 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 46.4%.

In July of this year, Bloom was traded from the 76ers to the Clippers. As for the 76ers, they immediately used the roster spot freed up after trading Bloom to sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
