The Raptors have secured a two-year, $115 million contract extension for Kawhi Leonard.

September 25th - According to ESPN, the Toronto Raptors have reached a two-year, $115 million contract with Kawhi Leonard, including a player option for the 2028-29 season. Leonard's agent, Harrison Gaines, confirmed the news to ESPN.

Since July, the Raptors and Leonard have been in close communication regarding a long-term partnership. The two-time Finals MVP hopes to finish his career in Toronto. The 35-year-old Leonard has three years remaining on his $165 million contract with the Raptors after this extension.

It's worth noting that Leonard voluntarily gave up the maximum extension amount of approximately $11 million and also forfeited $7.45 million in trade bonuses to help the Raptors maintain salary cap flexibility.

On June 30th of this year , the Raptors and Clippers reached a trade agreement, with the Raptors sending Kawhi Leonard back to Toronto in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Grady Dick, two unprotected first-round picks, one first-round pick swap, and two second-round picks. The trade was initially suspended due to the Clippers' alleged violation of salary cap regulations, but was ultimately completed after the league announced its investigation and penalties.

Kawhi Leonard led the Raptors to their only NBA championship in 2019. Last season, he played 65 games, averaging a career-high 27.9 points per game. Throughout his career, he has been selected to the All-Star team seven times, the All-NBA team seven times, and has won two NBA championships and Finals MVP awards.
