Tommy Doyle: Everyone contributed to the team, which is a very positive thing.

Tommy Doyle believes Wolves' victory over West Bromwich Albion in the Black Lives Matter derby was a near-perfect match day, with every player contributing. The midfielder has now played in two Black Lives Matter derbies, winning both. Doyle also won the derby with the team in the 2024 FA Cup away match against West Bromwich Albion, so he understands the significance of this game and what this victory means for Wolves fans.  

However, Tommy Doyle stated that he didn't need to remind his teammates of the importance of this derby. Under Cesar Peschoto's leadership, every player was ready to give their all for three points, and the team's control of the game proved that perfectly.  

Tommy Doyle said: "It was absolutely a perfect day. I think we played exceptionally well throughout the game. Everyone, from the starters to the substitutes, contributed to the team. That's a very positive aspect, and ultimately, the team that played better on the field won."  

"But this should be the standard we maintain going forward. Whether it's the intensity of the game, high pressing, or the way we play when we have possession, it should become the norm for the team. Of course, when you can do these things against your biggest competitors, the feeling of victory will naturally be even more wonderful."  

“Every game is equally important, but we all know that this game has a more special meaning. It was a very important match, which was evident from the fans’ reaction and the team’s performance throughout the week of preparation. However, for us players, the only thing we wanted to do was to make our fans proud, and hopefully we did.”  

When discussing his role in the game after coming on as a substitute, Tommy Doyle said, "It's not an easy thing, but our job is to help the team stabilize the situation and get the game back on track. The opponent will definitely have a period of time when they have the initiative on the field, and this is usually more obvious in the final stages of the game."  

"Therefore, we must always stay united and do our best to make a difference when we come on as substitutes. Our bench is very strong, so when the opportunity arises, each of us must step up and make a difference."  

"It's certainly important to start the offseason with a win, but we would have preferred to win games like this regardless of whether we were in the offseason or not. This also gives some teammates with minor injuries more time to recover. We can then enjoy these few weeks with our families before returning to high-intensity training and games."
